Meet the team at Mersey Heart
Our team of local practitioners understand the region and bring a wealth of medical experience to the Devonport area.
Dr Greg Hasking
Dr Greg Hasking is a graduate of the University of Sydney, who trained in Cardiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Greg performed research studies in patients with heart failure, completing his PhD at the Baker Medical Research Institute and Monash University, Melbourne.
After 2 years as a post-doctoral associate at the University of Minnesota, USA, Greg returned to practice in Queensland, where he directed the Heart Failure and Transplant Unit, and later had a private practice in Toowoomba.
After a few years away from medicine studying music and writing at the University of Queensland, Greg spent a year at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where he trained in cardiac ultrasound. He moved with his wife Julia to Tasmania, and worked in Launceston for 4 years. Julia and Greg bought a small farm at Osmaston, where they enjoy their two quarter horses, and plan to run sheep.
Julia and Greg have now opened a cardiology practice in Devonport. They hope to reduce the long times patients currently wait for specialist care, and will provide services not available in the city for some years. The practice hopes local residents will fill vacancies for professional, technical and clerical staff. The practice complements Greg’s work as a Visiting Cardiologist at Launceston General and Northwest Regional Hospitals.
Mrs Julia Hasking
